I'm late in writing this post, as I seem to be in many things lately (laundry, budgeting)... Our holiday break was a chaotic mixture of illness and trying to well, celebrate the Holidays. But now, with 2018 in the past, I thought it would be nice to review the year. It was our first year on our homestead, and we actually accomplished quite a bit. Here's a look...
We learned how to commute in the wee hours to school.
We survived epic snow storms.
We made it to spring and saw our land wake up.
We built a compost system.
We started seeds, and hubs built a small cold frame.
We relocated the garden. (To a sunnier spot)
We started our nature playground.
We harvested our currants and made jam.
Hubs converted our shed into a coop. (He looks super happy about doing it doesn't he?)
We learned how to care for chickens, and ate our first fresh eggs!
We harvested wild things.
We hatched chicks.
Hubs cut and stacked our wood supply for the coming winter.
And after a long process of approval, we finally got our solar panels installed.
And to cap the year, we welcomed two new members to the family.
It has been an eventful year for sure! And there are many plans, and surprises for 2019. Stay tuned to see how we'll grow.
